    defender td5 fuel filter

Never knocked mine. Have you got the protective cover fitted? If you stick your head in the wheel arch and look forward there is also chassis in the way that if you were going extreme should stop any damage.

    Oil pressure dropping when hot.

blocked oil filter (s)? For the price of them I would change both the Rotary and Cartridge filters. They may be blocked and causing a restriction in flow? A bit of a long shot, but you never know.

    EGR's and performance

Have a look here for a generic example: www.alivetuning.com/docs/EGR%20bypass%20kit.pdf It might look difficult but it isn't. Just don't disconnect the vac pipes at the modulators unless you know what you are doing or you might end up with no brakes......and watch out for the silly allen key...

    Snorkel - is that it

What I did to check was remove the top from the snorkel and start the engine. I then put my hand over the top of the snorkel. You will see the intake hoses collapse and should be able to hear any leaks (if there are any). Before you do go wading the thing that limits the TD5 the most is the...

Pulls like a train when cold, but...

Sounds like a fuel/air starvation problem. Here's what I would do. Check For oil in injector harness. Check Turbo wastegate is free to move across the range Check MAF sensor has 2 sensors protruding into the air flow. Then Clean it. Check Air Filter for cleanliness. Clean AAP. Remove...

    Discovery TD5 - Error code 135

Not sure what 135 is but the Engine speed input signal dubious sounds like Nanocom code 21-6 &/or 21-7 For info The TD5 ECU does not monitor fuel flow, or fuel pressure, so it cannot detect fuel starvation issues. Was it does notice though is that the engine RPM or road speed is not where it...

    limp home

I have no experience of this but manual states that the engine will be limited to idle speed only. ie your throttle wont work and engine will not run above your vehicles normal idle speed. 740 +/-50 RPM. Chan

    TD5 Judder After 20 Minutes

Even a little oil will cause issues. And just because you have cleaned the oil out of the plug there may be some still in the ECU. If you have had oil at the plug it will continue to "flow" there until you replace the injector Harness and all the residual oil in the harness to engine loom (and...

    My TD5 got very wet

Sounds like something was filled with water (throttle pot?) and has now dried out. Seen it before with a 2000 TD5 90.

TD5 Defender Excessive Vibration at 2500rpm and above?

Then I'd be checking the Gearbox and Engine mountings!

    TD5 Start-up problems

From what I understand the ECM uses the signal from the AAP sensor for the following functions: 1. To maintain manifold boost pressure. 2. To reduce exhaust smoke emissions while driving at high altitude. 3. Control of the EGR system. The sensor also supplies a voltage between 0v and 5v...

    td5 electrical probs

I don't have a lot of D2 Electrical experience, so I don't want to give you a bum steer, but have you considered the BCU?

TD5 Defender Excessive Vibration at 2500rpm and above?

I don't think that there is anway to check the flywheel without actually removing it. I suppose you could remove the crank sensor and see if it is dirty or has bits of flywheel stuck to it!!! It might be worth checking other things first. First thing I would consider is when you get the...

    td5 inop healp please

I made my pressure guage out of an old Px Regulator and some clear plastic tubing (to spot any bubbles in the fuel). You can then plug into the Fuel Px Regulator like Sierraferry has said. Though If it was starting one day and not the next then I would guess that it isn't the pump. Can you...

    Defender TD5 - screeching noise

Apparently the shearing off the studs on the manifold is a common problem and is associated with black soot around the studs and an awful screeching Noise. As long as you cab get the old studs out it shouldn't be too much off a "rebuild". Good Luck Chan
