    Probably no magnet in the new gear to activate the reed switch and tell the motor where to stop, I had the same problem!

    I think there's probably a magnet missing from the rear of the gear that tells the motor when to stop, when I ordered a new gear for mine there was no magnet! (if you power the motor off the car it will just continuously turn, there are two plugs on the car I think one is a reed switch to stop...
