ok so today went to the scrappy to try and source a second hand 17 vt box didnt find one but got chatting to one of the fellas and turns out his brother is a vehicle alarms specialist or some thing like that so got his number buzzed him and turns out theres a easy trick to bypass the ecu only...

i have tryed this but it didnt work maybe ill try it again with a better earth and proper wire the speaker wire wasnt man enuf maybe

ill have a look on ebay the only thing doesnt the reprogram thing require the drivers door lock to work as mines busted

yeh sorry bout that like i say new to this forum thing ive thought about a replacement ecu do you know if i would need the fobs that were programed to it aswell rather than reprogramming my existing ones im really trying to do this on a none existent budget trust me my missus will have my nuts...

yeh fobs work they did stop for a while during the first instance of this problem then i tryed unplugging for first time and leaving for a while then it fired up and ran for a few hrs now will start once with the uplug trick and the fobs work but immobiliser stays on im running very low on ideas

i wish it was that easy its not gota a spider fitted as far as i know they dont do a bypass plug for the standard 17vt unit

Hi my disco started playing up a few weeks back i suspected it to be the alarm/immobiliser ecu(17vt model) after several posts and a lot of messing about (check/charging battery checking for dry contacts checking earths etc etc the only thing that works is unplugging the box over night and on...

no worrys want to find out if it can be bypassed like the spider if so id bin the 17vt in a second not to worryed about having it as my discos only an old beater it seems to be quite a closely guarded thing tho for obvious reasons
