I've used Dinitrol before on a Peugeot 205 and it was very good, it gave a nice smooth black finish.

I didn't know it when I bought them but all 3 companies are British.

I've reluctantly started to give Leylandi series 3, some protection today. Last weekend I used a wire brush on a drill and white spirit to remove old waxoyl then jetwashed.
I used Jenolite rust converter and 2 coats of Buzzweld chassis in one then filled the cavities with Bilt Hamber Wax.

Good on uncle Stan, SS fuel tanks aren't cheap to buy. A new carb, ignition and timing check should get her idling nicely.

My series 3 was running badly so I replaced the Zenith Chinese copy with a new Weber kit. What I now believe is the rusty fuel kept blocking up the carb jets. I would advise anyone recommissioning a series to save themselves the frustration to drain and check the fuel tank. The fuel tanks are...

Try a new sender and if that doesn't work a new gauge?

The inline filter did very little when my tank was rotten, the jets were still getting clogged. If it does need a new tank it's easy to fit just a 4 bolts and 2 hose clips to undo.

A good service, new leads, ignition coil, new points or electronic dizzy, clean carb out and check timing.

I got a chance to fit the new oem fuel pump from Paddock Spares today and it has helped with starting. The clear carb fuel filter fills a lot quicker now. Last year a rusty fuel tank caused me a lot of carb issues so I slowly replaced everything from the tank to carb. If the carb was...

Mine can do this, I think the wire is loose behind the binnacle because when I push around the washer pump it comes back down to where I filled it.

My 78' with a new weber does the same, I have a new fuel pump to try but I doubt it will help. It starts better with the choke on these days. I have fuel filter just before the carb it fills slowly when starting it up.

Another vote for Yuasa batteries, I have two Toyotas a landy s3 and an old river boat with them in.

Another series 3 owner here ;)
Mine had an intermittent starting issue but it was a sticking starter. I replaced it then the starter solenoid failed. Easy to replace just a couple of bolts on each and doesn't cost a lot.
