Good Morning all
I thought I would post this as it might help someone. I recently gave my Series 3 cooling system an overhaul, replaced the faulty Temp sensor with a replacement and exchanged all the heater pipes and also realised the previous...
As with many old vehicles you become the caretaker of, the job list keeps growing as you discover more required work.
The next thing to be tackled is the coolant as it hasn't been changed in a very long time. Things rarely go to plan, the...
Split rims were fitted to military 80, and 86 models as standard and became an option [for the military] on later models including series 2. Not fitted to air portable, not many 2a lightweights were made.
The starter motor in the series III packed up! The spring jammed up as you can see - motor on the left. I took it to a starter motor only shop but all they did was advise me to buy a new one from a shop down from them. Rubbish!!
In the meantime...
I've just been through this last week with my series 3, it was running poorly so I replaced the usual serviceable items and it ran even worse.
At first I overlooked the carb because it looked new, but alarm bells rang because they no longer make...
The pin hole and where fluid kept flowing from was where at the neck of the horizontal and vertical section. It held but leaked for a while before it stopped. I had the view that I must revisit the brakes so kept in on to see how good of a plan...
Brakes and unusual nipples!!
The vertical T and nipple apparently was the way to go. It was made locally by a brake and hydraulic shop. It leaked from a minute pin hole!
After having spent a lot of time figuring things out and talking to a...
Here it's total BS!! You aren't allowed to import any vehicle older than eight years old but you can import engines that come from God knows where! No MOT's or regulations but they say vehicles older than eight years are not environmentally...
I'm JIMBOB (Jimmy) and own two series Land Rovers. A 1970 IIA and a 1975 III. The III is what I use daily and love it.
The plan is never to own any other type of vehicle ever!! I like it simple because Less Is More. I grew up in Kenya on a large...
Wherever you're in the world now, it seems there's no escaping the authorities complicating and adding to more rules and regulations.
I've found odourless parrafin quickly cleans old grease off. It might work well on the old sticky glue...
Sometime back my dad changed from 'commercial' to 'private' which meant that the need to have the LR inspected yearly by the transport authority was no longer. A type of MOT but rather slack. The process was the mother of nightmares! The emphasis...
Hello everyone.
Because I was asked to, I will. My thread will be nothing but my series IIA and III. The plans I have for both and why.
Firstly, the III developed a problem with the gearbox. My concerns of which box I have is now history but...
Would a 7.50x16 fit on 5" series tubed wheel or is it not recommended?

We have been busy all day today fitting an electronic distributor and the Weber carb and what a difference it's made. The car idles well and the engine is smooth. We also adjusted the timing statically and then with a timing light gun. The engine...
I found that with good series steel rims (clean them and then spray paint, straighten them if possible) you can use a good brand tyre and go tubeless. I intend to do this when my existing tyre wear out. Because the terrain over here is pretty...
