    3.9 Hotwire on 3.5

Me and a mate put hotwire on my 3.5 flapper RR. Same ECU for all as far as I know, you fit the relevant tune resistor in the loom so it knows what it's running. My vehicle is a 3.5 non-cat so I fitted the tune resistor for a 3.5 no-cat disco, closest option. Mate also cobbled together a micro...

    Classic rims

No idea. Just quoting what I was told by the powder coater, perhaps he's a lazy bastard and can't be arsed masking off! I am going for wet spray paint refurb when I have mine done.

    Classic rims

Our local powder coating place (in Hereford) said that following powder coating, they would need to send the wheels off to have the rim diamond etched to achieve the correct finish. The process would double the cost, at least. Another refurb place here just paints the wheels which obviously...

    3.5efi v8 won't start

Check your ignition amp as well. I had the same problem and after much faffing we swapped the ignition amp and she fired straight away. I have since upgraded to hotwire which is so much better. Good luck.

Classic Alternative Electric Front Seat Controls

If it's just the switch itself, it may just need a clean/re-build. I've successfully done both mine using this guide: http://www.rangerovers.net/repairdetails/seatcontrols.html

    Classic Windscreen replacement

I've read some nightmare stories of RRC windscreen fitting on other forums. One problem could be the dimensions of the aperture itself, this thread could be of interest: http://forums.lr4x4.com/topic/96509-attempted-windscreen-replacement-4-hours-of-doom/

    Speed transducer issues

Well, don't know if anyone is interested but after some fettling and fiddling we have successfully created a working road speed sensor on my RRC using one of these: http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/magnetic-pickups/2355706/ It has finished the lucas 14cux hotwire install nicely and the system...

    Speed transducer issues

Interesting thread, I've (well, me and a mate who knows what he's doing while I make tea) just installed a 14cux hotwire system from a later RRC into my 1989 RRC that used to have the old flapper system. Anyway, the final piece of the jigsaw for me is the speed sensor. We're going down the...

    Head Dimensions

Right, so next question, I've measured my heads (14 bolt, earlier type) and they're about 0.5mm thicker than the LR specs given in Rave (in the link). Is that because the later spec heads were that much less for the comp head gaskets? If so, as I'm fitting comp gaskets, should I get my heads...

Perfect. Wammers, thank you, you legend. That is exactly what I was looking for.

    Head Dimensions

I saw once, but can't find it anywhere, a diagram with the overall dimensions of the rover v8 cylinder head. I think it was in one of the 'how much can my heads be skimmed' threads. I also think it was an official LR diagram so head measurements could be checked against it to establish how much...

Also, before diving in and tearing stuff down, have you pulled the spark plugs for a look? See if any of them have been steam cleaned? Worth a check as It's simple and easy... Good luck with it.

Thoughts on Powerspark dizzy kits please.

I didn't buy the kit like that but I've had a coil and a new distributor off simonbbc for my '89 RR 3.5 Efi. No problem at all with either of them. Like you, I bought them so I knew they were new and reliable and could be eliminated when diagnosing problems.
