Best way to noise insulate a 90?

Just live with it, it's part of the charm, all the stuff I've tried just traps water underneath.

Security Measures in my Ex MOD Series 3

It's an increasing problem as modern cars are very difficult to steal, so the scum look for something easy. The usual advice is to make it LOOK difficult so they go to the next one. Hidden devices frustrate them so they trash the car. Luckily mine looks as if it has already been trashed!

altenrative fuel for diesel 1972 diesel 2a

Veggie oil cleans your pipes out so you need to change your fuel filter regularly, it also eats into older seals so you can start to have leaks. Bosch fuel pumps are happier, as are Japanese ones. Lucas pumps don't like it apparently. Straight veggie oil is not that much cheaper than diesel, I...

Electric fan an easy upgrade, I have it on a switch with a bright warning light, engine heats up quickly.

How do you secure the spare wheel on the back door

You can get locking wheel covers for about £100, but most are shiny stainless steel which doesn't go well with a Landy. A cover is always a help, as the thief isn't tempted by seeing a good wheel and tyre.

Why is my 200Di eating alternator belts???

The profile of the pulleys may be different, they could have been designed for different types of belt, some have a smooth "V" cross section, some are segmented with a flat edge.

    Tuning

85hp v 107hp, assuming they are not worn out. Anybody had a 19j or tdi on a rolling road? Much more torque on a tdi, which is what chews up gear boxes, but each to their own, if you have spent a small fortune on a tdi you are bound to defend your choice.

    Tuning

Why change the engine if it s going OK? 19J's will run for years if serviced properly and won't chew up your gearbox like a tdi. Seems like everyone wants to say they've got a tdi.

    Centre seat fitting?

Yup it's smaller, how do I know? Anybody want a seat base? Almost new? My S2 hasn't got runners, just six brackets sticking up from the box, bolts screw through them into the seat backs and the bases rest on the box itself. I fabricated stops to prevent them sliding forward. They originally just...

Anybody else put a td in a series??

Seems to be a good match for the gearbox and brakes, but RR diffs would help as I always reach for fifth, have a pair ready to fit, next project! A cheap engine which has a bad name but mine have gone on for ever, touch wood. Thinking of putting an inter cooler on, have one ready to fit...

Don't break down in south of France

Had mixed experiences in France, and in Italy, Wales, Scotland...... Even in England! Brilliant tractor mechanic in Chartres mended a broken brake pipe on a Scimitar with the instruction "vous pumpez" to bleed the system. Expert main Mercedes dealer in St Etienne changed an alternator on an old...

    DVLA throwin curve balls!!!

Sounds like the DVLA actually did a good job, Went out of their way to sort you out and found out a ringer somewhere. Did you say thank you?

smoking and revvin on its own..

Sucking sump oil up into the combustion chambers and running on it. Don't use it again until it's sorted, it could self destruct in a spectacular way. Only ways to stop it are too stall it or cover the air intake, if you can get near it for the smoke!

19J strange fuel fault at high speed

Could b e a restriction in the fuel line, making it too narrow for a full flow. Dirt or a crimped pipe.
