    Defender propshaft / rattling noises

Remove the tunnel around the gearlever for access to the linkage. Saw someone on a different forum with similiar and it was the gearlever bias springs loose and the plastic cup allowing the lever to accentuate the vibration/rattle at certain rpms. Probably not that, but easy check if you're...

    Steering

I've just had this issue. Would wander and be really light to steer. Slightest bump or wind would have it moving around. Issue was that the swivel preload was too slack. Set them up (Shim out of each side was needed) and it's straight and steady. Cost nowt! S

Thanks for all the kind comments. I didn't mean to hijack! It's an official LR colour called Mid Grey. Whilst it looks like I've changed it from light blue to grey, I haven't. It's the original colour. The paint had faded (and actually washed off) so badly it looked blue. I spent ages trying...

    Tax in post

I've always driven it as soon as I've paid online. Like most things nowadays, it's simply a case of "computer says no" or yes in this case. The ANPR cameras use the database which is updated, seemingly, nigh on immediately. You'd be the unluckiest person in the world to find a plod who could...
