The Pirelli Scorpions Ice and Snow are very good tyres for this kind of stuff. I do a lot of driving in the alps during winter and have not had to use chains yet.

I'm in Chamonix at the moment so lots of cold temperatures. My Fine Freelander 2 sems to have developed a freeze problem with the passenger door - which is clearly closed, but the F2 seems to think it is not. I'm assuming its a frozen issue, as the problem cleared when the temp came up...

Cheers - although I must fess up that I am unsure where it is. Looking at your Merc photo, I think there are two places where it could be, one of which was where the tunit box used to be connected to (just over the strut) and the other is nearer the front of the air tube. (Its been a while...
