Sorted :D There is a mesh at the end of the metal filler pipe that runs down to the rubber connection which then goes to the tank. This can be easily pulled out. Mine was covered in a jelly like "diesel snot" and there was also a leaf :eek: wedged above it. Good advice guys --- thanks! The...

Thanks the the advice. Trimless its actually quieter than you might think (especially with stuff in the back on a mat, that's the really rattly bit esp. with the exhaust exit cut though a rear wing...)... all that's left is the dashboard, of course, door panels, some padding over the...

I'll take the metal tube piece (filler cap to main rubber tube) out later and see if it is either full or crap around some antisyphon mechanism or can be "modified" :D Not a nice job, lying under a car dealing with rusted jubilee clips, getting covered in underbody crud and diesel :rolleyes:

Yep, its an old thing ('88) and the diesel pump gets right in. Has a problem even filling from a jerry can "fast" --- spews back up the filler pipe :( Must be some kind of airlock :confused:

I posted this in the RR forum before but thought I'd expand on it here in case it gets a wider audience or LR owners have had the same trouble. My problem is that my RR classic is impossible to refuel quickly whatever angle the filler is held at. Thoughts were of a blocked breather pipe...

Hi My old classic RR is being driven to Mali on the "Budapest Bamako" rally in January! It's a 5 door, originally a 3.5 petrol, now running a 200TDi. I'm interested in suggestions for minimum pre-rally service, spares/tool kit and any budget mods I should think about. Driving will be a mix...

I've got an 88 classic that was a 3.5 and is now a 200tdi, brilliant combination - pulls like a train. Previous owner did it, so no idea personally of pitfalls etc but there is an article about Tdi transplants in this months LRO mag... Good luck if you decide to do it.

Aye, that found 'em (behind the 4wd "instructions" panel) - ta muchly. It's one of the few bits of interior left in the car - it's been stripped out already for off-roading :D

Where to find them, on a classic? No problems, just want to know! Can't easily spot any :eek: just a relay bank on the engine side of the firewall in front of the passenger :confused:

yep, its a classic ('88).... I've tried all the tricks/angles at the pump... where do I find the breather???
