Looks very nice I've always had a soft spot for p38's. have the headlights been replaced as they look like the pre 2000 facelift ones? I can't believe they didn't put fog lights on this model either.

Hi it's the transfer box just behind the gearbox it appears to be a fairly common problem. As soon as I hit 4000rpm in mine i got a nasty grinding/vibration noise if I went on to 5000rpm it went. The way to check its that is when stationery pop it in neutral and try it then if the sound is still...

It sounds as if that's the ird mount bracket mine did the same at exactly 4000rpm. Check this first the parts only about £20.00.

Just an update for everyone I've just had the car back from the garage after having a new clutch kit fitted. The mechanic lubed all the right bits and sorted the gear linkage out which he said was pretty stiff.

I think I will go for the heavy Duty clutch kit. Will get it booked into the garage this morning and let you know the findings.
Thanks Dave

Perfect. I will print this off and pass it to the garage hopefully this will cure the problem.
How much of a job is it to change the clutch in a 1.8 freelander?
Thanks again

Hi. I'm having a bit of a problem with my freelander it's a 1.8 se 2004.
I've owned it for around 2 months now and have done quite a bit of work on her inc vcu and a full service. I'm having an issue pulling away in 1st and reverse gear. It judders in either gear from a standstill it's as if...

The only reason I changed was due to having a freelander before and knowing what can go wrong if your VCU starts to seize. I thought for £300 fitted with new bearings was pretty good value. Mine was starting to go tight in reverse on full lock but I suppose many wouldnt notice it. As I'm...

Just had my VCU replaced by bell I'm going to post a thread about it. As the service was top notch and they know there stuff about freelanders. Mine had done 74k and had matched tyres all it's life replaced In Sets of four. It wasnt completley gone but was well on the way. Hopefully I caught it...

Hi. From my experience with my old TD4 which had a rover Ron MAF you will need a MAF box from him to convert it or use a synergy 2 which was the option I went for as you will gain a nice increase in power and be able to use his MAF's. Don't be tempted to buy a cheap oem MAF though I tried this...
