I suspect not many of you lost sleep over my 'barking dog' noise, but i did finally fix the problem. The swivel seal had allowed almost all of the oil to drain from around the ball joint...temporarly topped up with oil (pre a more permanent solution using grease) and the noise has completely...

Maybe so, but i'm off to spend the winter in the alps (again). Last time poor landy came home feeling very sorry for itself :)

Hi Main dealer thorughly checked car over c/w test drive rolling road set up with listening gear to pin point noise but there's no obvious cause. I've now booked car in to have hub stripped...will see what shows up? Cheers

mmm...if so, how much to stop the dog barking - parts and labour?

Hi all, new to the forum with a tricky question... My Defender 90 (2001) is suffering from an intermittent rubbing noise emanating from the front near side wheel/hub. The rubbing noise (which sounds a little like a dog barking with a dry throat) happens only at slow speed – the ‘bark’...
