The Chassis should also be stamped on the front right of the chassis on the leaf spring bracket. (unless it has a new chassis). Always thought on an S3 that the ID plate was on the bulkhead under bonnet and the Plate with the ID in front of the gear stick was used on S2/S2a.

Yep, you're right. Its actully quite a neat switching unit for the age. Might be a good idea to check all the seals on the switch to make sure its all fine if its not been used for awhile! Ant

Thats an Anti Burst type of door lock. As you say this is confirmed by the lock being in the door skin rather then in the door handle cut out. Ant

Sounds to me with the tank lever that the rear tank was taken out due to it leaking and not replaced. Got the same switch in mine, but mine being a swb they are under the front seats. Bet if you look under the rear tub you will find the fuel line to the rear where the tank should be, along with...
