Unfortunately that motor seems obsolete all over the place, i bought one as well about 2 years ago then sent the bad one to a rewinding service and they made it like new for half the price so i keep that for spare.
I Always make a note of where seals are sitting before removing old ones. As the originals would have been there the longest there may be some witness marks left to go by if LR did recess your ones.
They won’t be cheap (not silly expensive), but they certainly know their Freelanders, and will 100% be able to sort yours if it’s not something you want to tackle yourself. Sue and Norbert are great guys… and say hello to the dogs!
Sorry you've had so much aggro. That was one of the first jobs I had to do on mine back in 2021 & I think it was NAK seal I used on SF's recommendation & it's been fine since. As said I did go over the shaft sealing area with some fine wet n dry...
Yeah, would have loved to have got a Discovery Sport recently for daily use to compliment the D2 but after all the issues with that engine, knicker elastic timing chains, DPF issues (milage dependant) & ad blue system I went for a 2021 Mazda...
I’m not far from Langley and might be able to help. I’ve got a set of TD4 injectors that were working fine when pulled; you’re welcome to borrow them for testing. No need for a deposit, just look after them and let me know how it goes
Funny how "I might as well do this at the same time" leads to multi-day work projects. After finishing the installation of the Roamer OD, I thought I'd add some heat/sound insulation to the bottom of the centre seat panel, which lead to doing the...
So little update it was a combination of a worn ignition barrel (that already had been replaced), terrible connection on the common 12v input (brown wire in center) and the ignition switch internals being fully worn out and corroded.
So changed...
Sorry for your loss, but you're lucky it didn't spread to the house.
I think buy back from the insurance, won't be much, when they see what's left.
Fingers crossed, you find another one soon.
Can you take the insurance value and buy the wreck off them?
Then at least you can salvage what is worthwhile.
Are you sure the chassis is fecked? I can't help but think it'd take a heck of a lot of heat to do that.
whatever, best of luck...
Cheers, I’ll be better when I’m sat in a working disco 2 TD5 LOL! Yea I’m good and the family, only was car and garage stuff so very lucky really. I do have contents insurance for the house so I’m thinking they will cover the stuff lost but...
Absolute Agony, hope you feel better soon, have to try and find some positives out of this at the end of the day it can be replaced you can’t.
There may be more salvageable parts other than just the front end. House insurance might cover other...
Alright Guys,
If you read my introduce me post, this is the burnt out D2… All my fault. I had a lapse in what I normally would do, I left a dirty greasy rag on the rear drivers axle and it caught fire from a bit of glue that was on fire from...
Alright,
Names Luke, 35, lincolnshire and I’ve got a discovery 2 td5.
Bought it sept 2023, was in a poor state and falsely lead to believe it wasn’t as bad as it was. Had no recourse so just cracked on to get it a fresh MOT, roll around 1.5...
Hi all. Based up in North Lincs.
Just taken ownership of my first Landy today, a 2013 Freelander 2.
Had a quote for a cam belt and water pump replacement of around £1700, so already enjoying the authentic Land Rover experience!
Loving the...
