    Vintage Road Tax.

Take some comfort that, according to the latest Eurostat eport, overall the Irish pay the smallest percentage of their income in Tax in the whole of the EU. Paying that 700 euros may seem like a bummer but you get to laugh at the rest of us at the end of the day.

    Vintage Road Tax.

Check the law carefully. Just because other people are doing it doesn't mean you can't end up in trouble. There are loads of ex-pats here in Brittany running around in cars still on UK plates. They think it's OK because an insurance company has taken their money. But the law is quite clear that...

    Vintage Road Tax.

Err, I may have got the wrong end of the stick here but it looks to me like you're on a public forum asking if you can swap VIN plates on vehicles to pretend one is another to cheat the tax man out of a view quid. Probably not a good idea. And I can't see any insurance company not using that...

If you get stuck in France

That is much more comprehensive and useful than the Haynes manual I have. The scary thing is that I don't know what half of those terms mean in English

    Anyone want a new Fender..Going cheap..honest

I reckon mine would be a steal at 35K for someone then – a 50 % discount. Yes it's a little worn round the edges but that just means I've wrinkled out any problems. And the flaking paintwork is just “patina” obviously.

    Anyone want a new Fender..Going cheap..honest

I'm obviously going mad or blind cos looking at their web site I could swear they are looking for 75K for a fender.

    10 years after

So it's coming up on the 10th anniversary of me buying the defender and using it as my daily driver. This is what I've learnt over that time. I'm an idiot. Or rather - I'm a a masochistic idiot. I have singularly failed to provide my wife with any sane reason as to why I drive it. Why do we...

    French CT and EGR removal

the fact that the fog and reversing lights are on the wrong sides and that one of the indicator bulbs had blown didn't seem to worry them at all.

    French CT and EGR removal

Went for my CT (MOT) a couple of days ago and either they didn't notice the EGR was blanked or they didn't care as they didn't pick up on it. However they did fail it as having a “major fault with the braking system” as the ABS light was on. Until I insisted the guy sit in it whilst I drove it...

How much did you pay for your Land Rover?

I paid just over 10K for my 90 for what was, in 2005, the lowest mileage vehicle I had ever owned ever owned. Since then I've driven nearly 200K rather noisy but almost trouble free miles in all sorts of conditions . If it blows up tomorrow I'll still reckon it was a bargain.

I would just like to say

Whilst taking one of our semi-incontinent dogs out in the small hours of the morning Mrs Anatomick stood on ,and squished, a mouse on the stairs and then screamed at full voice for a good 5 minutes. Must remember to buy some mouse traps tomorrow or risk future sleep deprivation no matter how...

I would just like to say

Me, I hate spiders with all their legs and their scuttling and their plotting to jump out at me when I least expect it. Fortunately my dogs like eating them so I get at least some return for all that money I've spent on dog food over the years.
