With regards to Halfords socket sets, quite often they are in a sale so keep an eye out. Bought one for my son a couple of weeks ago at half price.

So they confirmed it's the transfer box output seal which is leaking? Corteco seals are good choice, Britpart specials are not. Smith & Allan are pretty good for oil, bear in mind transfer box and axles use the same oil so don't bother buying 1/2...

It won't be a 2b anymore it will take the id from the 130. If you modify the chassis then it may well mean you need an IVA.

I think the current one is Britpart, replaced about 10 years ago when the oil cooler imploded! Might be a weak pump - I have found receipt for a pump I bought about 5 years ago, but I have to say I don’t actually remember fitting it! Probably...

My son fitted a Britpart rad to his and it's lasted fine and cools well, if that's any help. Water pump should come off OK if the cambelt has been changed as per recommendations.

Sorry for your loss. Maybe keep the body style the same, help keep the memories that way. You don't really need power steering once moving along, handy for parking maybe. Post up a few photos.

Fair enough, small fire it is then .

You never know with a previous owner, besides I have had blue oil before. I linked the output seal as someone else had suggested the possibility, does look a possibility by one of the pictures.

You can get heating elements that stick to the sump and heat the oil.

https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/transfer-box-front-output-bearing-and-oil-seal-renewal.81771/ You will probably only need to replace the seal and not the bearing, maybe the flange. Post a general area you are in, maybe someone close to you.

The Kit I have bought is from a company called Maltings - link below, the kit is not shown on the website, but is available from ebay, if you call them and ask for Luke, he knows exactly which kit it is. https://maltings4x4store.co.uk/

Might aswell do while you are at it, more so the front as the rears are very easy to change.. £170 for shocks and springs is good, where are they from?

It's in the work shop manual, you can damage the steering box if not done correctly I do believe. Never had to do it so not 100% sure. Or you could just nip it up and hope for the best.

If the column is tight on the steering box and the steering wheel can be turned without the drop arm moving then the play is in the box (obviously). There is a correct way to adjust the steering box. You could have changed just the ujs and not...

You cannot help insurance companies at all. In a commonsense world the premium should go down as it could save a claim costing a couple of grand if the cat can't be stolen. It gets on my nerves when factory fitted mudflaps are counted as a mod...

I have found that, in general, Corteco seals are pretty good and a reasonable price. I almost always buy two seals for any seal I may be changing, bound to need it in the future sometime.
