Sorted out the issue all by myself :D Checked the generator panel for anything obvious internally - nothing. Removed the "return" wiring and it seemed to be a little loose, out pops a brass locking ring that keeps the screw connection attached to the wiring casing and screws to the generator...

Charged the batteries :p

Thanks for the help guys - I'm going to go down the route of a modern alternator and just by-pass all the FFR kit. Just got to find a suitable replacement that will fit though. Cheers, Al
