L322 TD6 DIAGNOSTIC LOG IN. HOW TO. VIA BMW

Hello all again. It's been a while since I posted. Still have the P38 2.5D also now a 2006 (facelift) L322 TD6. The following may be of help to some other TD6 owners. When logging in using various scanners the engine ECU seems to be unobtainable. I found on my Delphi that logging in as a BMW X5...

P38A Automatic Gearbox Lucas Transmission Fix

When the viscous coupling seized on mine it broke the uj on the shaft. At least that's what I blamed. Also dented the sump but that's all. I have used Lucas in several auto boxes to good effect but not with such startling results.

    P38A Rear brakes and bleeding

The RAVE "how to" appears to be a long winded affair but is actually simple if you follow it step by step and take your time. Always works for me.

Other MOT special notice 01-21: headlamp conversions

I can only speak from my own experience of owning an mot and repair garage. All my nominated testers and others I knew, and still do, were decent lads who did not fail anything unless it was required. In fact they often would put minor faults right (for free) so the vehicle didn't fail. e.g...

Other MOT special notice 01-21: headlamp conversions

DVSA or VOSA as it was known when I was an authorized examiner have a history of making bizarre decisions. One such was stopping testing stations failing knackered brake discs unless they were literally hanging off! Their reasoning was garages were failing too many brake discs in order to make...

I think they have to have a cleaning device if fitted.

    P38A Diff Oil - again

The synthetic I use has the highest spec anyway. GL5. I think the GL4 info may be out of date and was the highest spec at the time of Rave or handbook publication? Likewise with the API rating for the engine oil.

    P38A Diff Oil - again

I have used 75/90 synthetic on Discovery's and P38's for a few years now.

P38A V8 Auto ATF recommendations - Comma AQM?

I have been using the German Mannol oil products for a few years now on many vehicles. They have a huge range from mineral, semi- syn and fully synthetic. I used their Dex 111 synthetic for auto boxes with good results or their 75/90 synthetic for standard gearboxes (not R380) and diffs. Also...
