    Hi all Many thanks for the suggestions, and yes indeed it is the number 4 cylinder valve cap that has gone AWOL! Does anyone know where I can these mail order, I might as well replace all whilst the rocker cover is off. Mechanic has adjusted the tappet tonight and now much better but needs cap...

    Thanks for these suggestions, I am getting the compressions checked and the rocker cover is coming off tomorrow for further investigation, I ill advise you hopefully tommorrow of how it has gone. Cheers H

    Hi All Hope you can help, since July 2010 my 1997 300tdi Discovery has been steadily getting louder with a "tappet" sound" this has also gone worse recently by a wheezing sound which seems to be coming from the air filter. I have took it to the local garage who say it may be a valve or valves...
