    changing to an aftermarket stereo?

There have been lengthy threads at the rangerovers.net P38 forum about this. From them I understand that the buzzing is due to a mismatch in impedance. There are ways to overcome this, including one that uses a simple, homemade solution: (there is apicture attached to the email quoted...

Air con belt + Radio questions P38 99S

I've seen subwoofers connected to the rear output. That way you have fader control. The subwoofer would "dim" when you shift the sound to the front, but ...

    dimmer and "mist" stalk problems

Greetings. In playing around with the RR ('95 4.0), I dimmed the dashboard lights all the way down, but then I could not get them to "undim" or brighten up again. The mechanic told me it was probably the switch on the stalk that had gone bad. I tried holding the switch in the bright position...

    Sunroof problem

My 1995 Ranger Rover has developed a new ailment. It seems that when you want to pop up the sunroof, only the left side lifts up, while the right side doesn't do anything. If you slide the sunroof back, it will do so without any problem, but, on sliding it all the way forward, the left side...

    spongy/non existent clutch

Could it be the slave cylinder? In a 94 Discovery I had it was close to the transmission and the inner o-rings were bad, so it wasn't holding pressure. It is repaired sort of like a master cylinder for the brakes.

this may be obvious to some, but what are W, X, Y, and Z? Are they the code numbers?

    Radio connections

The radio in my 1995 4.0 doesn't work properly. I am trying to decide whether to send the original radio for repair, try to purchase a replacement, but OEM radio, or to install an aftermarket unit. If someone could answer the following questions, they will go a long way towards a decision. My...

    Fog lamps

Today I ran over the thread that comes off tractor trailer tires on the highway. I was lucky because I only broke the right (passenger) side fog lamp. Could have been worse, I've seen these things bend fenders, tear other stuff, etc. I am writing because the only things left of the lamp are two...

Can't get the truck to "Park"

Update--As mentioned before, the mechanic told me it was the "Gearbox Position Switch"--also known as the XYZ switch. I ordered it but never got to install it. You see, after the mechanic took a look at it and gave me his diagnosis, I asked him to put everything back together while I waited for...

    BNR and BLS radio keys

I don't have an owner's manual for my 1995 4.0SE (USA), so here is a simple question: What do the initials BNR and BLS on the radio keys stand for? What function do they serve? Thanks

Can't get the truck to "Park"

Unfortunately, it turned out to be the "Gearbox Position Switch" also known as the XYZ switch. So I'm having it fixed to the tune of about $400 USD.

cruise control or lack of it

There is a large forum at Motorcarsltd.com (hosted out of Houston, TX). There I remember reading that another cause for lack of cruise control is a switch that is apparently (if I remember correctly) actuated by the brake pedal. Someone there suggested to check the lines for cracks/leaks or...

Can't get the truck to "Park"

Many thanks! The plastic has not become detached, as even the computer dashboard display shows "R" when the transmission is in park, I am even able to depress the gas pedal and the engine revs up but the car doesn't move (in other words, normal behavior). It must be the adjustment.

Can't get the truck to "Park"

More precisely, the transmission (automatic) seems to be in park, however the red indicator as well as the dashboard display both show "R", and the reverse lights are on, the mirrors are lowered, etc. I have also noticed that when changing gears the red indicator light always seems to lag...

    Greetings from new member

I've just signed on. I am new to the LR experience, although I have wanted one for a long time. I now have a Range Rover (1995 4.0 SE), that I bought with the idea that I would be able to fix it up. I know I will need truckloads of help. In advance, I thank all.
