The radio in my 1995 4.0 doesn't work properly. I am trying to decide whether to send the original radio for repair, try to purchase a replacement, but OEM radio, or to install an aftermarket unit. If someone could answer the following questions, they will go a long way towards a decision.
My car has, I think, the high-line setup (with CD changer). The CD changer doesn't work; it doesn't seem to receive any power.
I have the RAVE CD and I think I have figured out that the C224 connector (10 pins) has the connections for "audio out" and the connections are two for each of the speakers (LF, RF, RF, RR) and two for the subwoofer. I don't know however if these connections are positive and negative or if they are two positives and there is a ground somewhere else. Does any one know?
In addition, if an aftermarket radio is installed, is there anything that has to be done with the connector to the BeCM? What does this do?
Is it possible to splice wires to the C224 connector and use the vehicle's amplifiers and speakers, or is this more of a hassle and not something that will really work?
Any help will be appreciated.
