What is the little threaded node protruding off the front of the starter motor, there is a nut on there but no wires, just curious as to its purpose

Uncle Albert please accept my early apology for this following question. the spade terminal, is that the one on the front of the starter motor (side facing the grill), small threaded piece.

and the starter motor is doing nothing, not even trying to spin. Went out today 9after bump starting it) did some legal mud hunting - mine is standard so nothing serious - got home and it started after i turned it off. tried again an hour later... nothing, not a peep

will try rocking it in gear snowmanv8 and see if that works

yeah tried that, even tried it off a booster pack... extra charge not helping, tried tapping the starter when turning the key... nothing, everything on the car works beautifully, all the right lights show up, wait for the glow plugs to warm up nicely and then nothing happens... its frustrating...

Checked the temp sensor, that's not faulty. Will trace the cables back to see if there is a faulty connection as per your suggestion. Thank you for your advice
