No idea what valet mode is or how to switch it on and off. I do have an issue with the service key not working so could this be also linked to that mode?

The lower tailgate button isn't working on my 2008 L320 sport so I cant get access to the two lower screws to remove the plastic inner panel so how do I go about fixing it. I am assuming the switch needs replacing and its not a fuse issue. Thanks, Adrian

It wasn't working prior to trying but I thought it might be worth a try. It sounds like something has come off.

As a side issue of being super locked (now resolved) I have discovered that my valet key doesn't work so i'm guessing either something has detached or I need to replace the whole mechanism so has anyone had this issue and managed to resolved it. I have blasted the lock with WD40 to no avail...

Correct its hasn't been working for a while and forgot to get it fixed.

Power is now obviously getting to something as the lights front and back are flashing away as if the alarm is going off so I guess this is part of the battery getting charge.

My intention is to put crocodile clips on the other end of the 7 pin cable and connect to the battery charger + and - connectors which should do the same as you are saying.
