thats the water in fuel sensor WKW500070, like you said not all models had it. its not required if its manually drained often.

Could always be dirty injectors, they cause this symptom

Also to be able to get the screw in, number 10 on that drawing, i drilled a little hole through the door frame on the inside, this allows you to put a screw driver straight through and get onto the screw without having to take the window mechanism off - if that makes sense, if not i can get you...

when i did mine (1991 defender) they were the same as the drawing, where number eight points to on the right of that drawing is a little brass pin, if you push that in, the other part of part 8 slides off and fits to the new barrel, and that makes it longer and has the threaded hole in it. hope...

My defender needs prepping for its MOT next week, 50/50 whether it'll pass. My series 2a needs prepping for selling, its time for it to go i think, got a new Glavo chassis with it, but just dont have the time :/
