Hi all

I have a new Radiator to fit to my (new to me) discovery 1 Having previously owned a defender 90 with a 2.5 N/A engine I know a bit but not much!

The 200tdi has an intercooler so I was wondering can I just disconnect these pipes or do I need to drain the oil first? ball ache if I do!

Any words of wisdom greatly appreciated

cheers

No need to drain oil, just undo cooler pipes and move them so that they are pointing upwards. You will loose a little oil, mostly from the cooler, but just needs topping up afterwards.

I had to change the rad on my 300Tdi and in theory it was a simple job but the bolt on the bottom oil pipe was pig to undo, had a spanner on it then my big tirfor handle on the end of that as a breaker bar to be able to undo it it came right up to the sound deadening under the bonnet, with the bonnet open : O

Just took my time and finally got it off. Apart from that, straight forward ;)

do u have to top the radiator oil part up ?? or does the oil come from the engine ?? i removed my rad and cleaned it a while back didnt top any oils up though.

No the oil come from the engine circulates thru the rad and then back into the engine.
