Wet rear headlining / removal of tailgate plastic trim?

So I've narrowed my rear leakage down to this reason.....Freelander - Water Ingress - Rear Of Headlining Wet - Land Rover

only thing is I don't have a workshop manual and not a clue how to remove the plastic trim without accidentally breaking it off. Any help from someone in the know would be much appreciated. Thanks

The trim is held onto the body by plastic "Press in" studs. The vertical side sections must be removed first by sliding a flat trim removal tool ideally, or similar, under the trim close to where the studs can be felt and levering gently away from the body. They should just pop free and hopefully undamaged.

Thanks Irishrover, got appropriate tool and replacement clips and studs at the ready. So does the top horizontal plastic trim have the same popout stud thingies?

Hi, get yourself a good quality clear mastic run a bead of mastic on the top of the trim, 5 min job done mine 2years ago still no leaks .

Yes..there is a plastic "Baseplate" which is held on to the body by self tapping screws and the outer finisher trim clips on to that.
Chances are that the water is getting past the self tapping screws and the "Rawlplugs" that are fitted into the body for them. remove the "Baseplate" and apply some sealant around the screw hole and on the screw threads. It will help to do the same to the side trim (Vertical) bases whilst you are at it. Use Sikaflex or if you don't have it. Silicone sealant.
