Replacement genuine parts are about £70, I think, so you could head for eBay, where I got mine.

It's a very similar part to a Rover display that has an orange display rather than green, and they tend to be cheaper.

It is also subject to a factory recall.

Thats not a recall, its just a technical bulliten, one of about 200 tech bullitens on freelanders!

smartarse! - we cant all be right all the time.

Reason for the problem should be an overheating component (according to the technical bulleting) which in my opinion is b..s..t as when I opened mine all it had was corroded contacts. As suggested in the other thread it was, for me, enough to clean the contacts and to apply some pressure on the whole unit while closing it to (still) have a splendid working unit now. Not seen any traces of heat at all??
