Been offered a dirt cheap 1.8 Freelander which roasted itself. Had a Recon engine 18 months ago, and roasted itself again. Guy is just wanting rid of it now

I am breaking an L-Series, which I could use as a donor car, but the L-Series body loom where it connects to the engine loom has extra plugs I havnt seen on a K-series before

So, anyone done it before?
Is it a viable option?

would say definitely not viable. possible, definitely with enough time and patience, but not something I would say was a viable proposition.

good luck if you try it, let us know how you get on.

not just a case of changing engine, fuel lines, fuel tank, ecu's, wiring looms, the list just goes on.

not sure about transmission and drive train, that may have been different too (diff ratios etc)

And to cap it all, the speedo will need changing, 'cos it will have petrol written on the fuel gauge, not diesel...

Drivetrain is the same, other than ratios inside the gearbox. Swapping parts isnt a problem, as I have the whole car there as a donor

Only thing that makes me slightly dubious about it is there is 4 multiplugs on the n/s inner wing from the engine loom, that arent there on a K...

ratios are unsuitable but also the diesel version of the PG1 is uprated/stronger.
