Hi all out there,

The compressor on my 2001 Disco has packed in, the garage quotes about £300 to replace that and the valve block.
But he suggests to put coil springs in for about the same price.
As i could still get probs with the E.c.u and air bags in the future.
Do you think it would harm the resale price by going down the coil spring road.
Will be grateful for any suggestions.
Thanks Vernon.

is it a 5 seater or a 7 seater?

if its a seven seater you may invalidate your insurance if you replace the SLS with coil springs as the TD5's only had EC type approval for 7 seats provided they had the air suspension fitted - might be worth checking

if its a 5 seater no problem go for it - you'd need the ecu re-programmed to tell it it no longer has the sls though

I know of a firm that does disco 2 air suspension to coil spring conversion for £225 (fitted & ECU re-programmed)

Thanks burtonboy & slob, have checked with insurance company no probs on there part, just so long as it is MOTable, so am having coils put in on Thursday, have also asked if they would install some spacers in at the same time to raise it about 30 to 40mm. Cheers Vernon
