ive fitted a new clutch and all seems well, but i fitted the old slave cylinder as seemed ok to look at, no leaks anywere etc but the clutch pedal seems to only go half/3 quarters the hardness it should and car wont lock into gear (goes half way but dont click in) but pulls away when u hold it half way, everybody who has seen it says its not bled proparly thats all but ive tryed and tryed and cant get it right, theres no leaks, fliud level stays same over weekend etc, so no leaks in cylinders it seems, when we bleed it tons of air comes out everytime you un nip the nipple, tighten then pump the pedal up, then repeat but air never seems to run out shorley theres not that much in there ?? was there for half hour and still air coming out it just aint slowing down, or dont seem that way to me :( help please any advice appriecated ??

Stick a brick on it, leave it over night. I also found that pumping the pedal whilst bleeding helps (I use a pressure bleeder or vacuum bleeder when doing mine). Failing that replace the master/slave cylinders. They are a bugger to do though, took me a while to get mine right, it still doesnt feel like it did before, its lighter now!

brick on it? do u mean un nip the nipple then leave it over night, or do it when its done up ?? thanks gez

When it's all done, wedge the pedal down and any trapped air should make its way to the top overnight, that's the theory, seems to work quite well on discos but like I said it could be the slave or master cylinder, just because there is no fluid leak doesn't mean they ain't letting air in

kl thanks alot im going to try it 2moro :)

^^^^ that's a good method... but if no joy put a new slave cylinder... the the rubber seal within an old cylinder used to turn over cos it's an internal wear on the body along the piston's travel and when u release the pressure from the piston by removing the pushrod the seal meats the edge of the wear. ...it's quite common to not be able to bleed well a system when the slave cylinder is old and it was removed. ... this was verifyed by me when in my rage(after hours of unsuccessfull bleeding) i cut an old cylinder in two pieces to see what happened within;)
