chips

can all tdi engines be "chipped", if so where from and how much?

is this anuvva one fur "Roverron"? TADA!!!

I don't belive they can all be chipped, just the later ones and autos I think.

I have a 97/300tdi which has a modified chip

If you have EDC ( electronic diesel control ) you can "chip" your Tdi. To identify if you have this look for an airflow meter between the air filter and the turbo. If you havnt rejoice as you can tweak your injection pump with a screwdriver without spending £300 to achieve the same effect. Couple this to a larger intercooler and your vehicle will be transformed.

Several good firms make uprated intercoolers but it depends on what motor you got. Mine for example is mint condition 300tdi with aircon and auto. With half a dozen items such as radiators and fans mounted in the front his doesn't allow much room for a further full size intercooler. The ideal solution for me was an Allisport direct replacement. Trust me that gave a remarkable transformation. I could have the front chopped and modified and fit a full size high performance intercooler which no doubt would be fantastic but I don't think I can justify damaging a perfectly good car. The unit I had was about £235, not cheap but much less expensive than others. The full unit I think was about £400

I got my intercooler from Brunel Performance, Nr Malden Essex. This had a larger core but still fitted in the original fitmant place. What you can fit to yours depends on wether you have air con and / or auto transmision du to the placement of the air con rad and gearbox cooler. Twisted performance is a good place to start looking, just do a Google search. The bottom line is the bigger the better.
