'evnin all,

My ACE warning light has just illuminated today, going to orange (not red). I have checked the fluid level and it is full (serviced only 1000 miles ago). Before i take it to a garage is there any simple checks i should make myself??? Whatever the problem is it does not appear to affected the stability so far but i don't want to risk serious damage.

Also out of interest does anybody know how i can disable the airbag warning light? every time the drivers electric seat is moved it appears to solve the problem so i presume there is a loose connection somewhere. The man from the AA says it's a common problem and it does not mean the airbag is faulty just faulty wiring, it does'nt always illuminate.

Thanks all in advance once again:cool:

Do not drive it if it goes red and starts to go PING!!! Someone did to mine and it was very expensive (and LR dealer cocked up the repair first time round).

I also had airbag warning light problem - LR dealer said it was an MoT failure if it was on, or if warning light is disconnected so that it doesn't come on before starting, and it needed a new airbag which would costalot. Sensible non-dealer LR specialist fixed the loose wire for free.

Thanks,

the warning light is only orange at the moment so i will contact a dealer and get it fixed before it goes red!

as for the airbag light, it usually does not come on unless somebody plays with the drivers seat so i may just risk that unless of course it's cheap to fix

I had the same problem with my ACE light. It would frequently glow yellow (never red) usually it would come on when on straight roads (motorways) after a few miles. Swithcing off the ignition and restarting would clear it. My local dealer diagnised with the testbook software, and it was a marginal upper accelerometer (there are 2 sensors, one under the car, and one in the plastic cover above the rear view mirror). It's a fairly easy job to swap the accelerometers but they need careful handling. Have a look at this excellent article which explains the system:

I tried to read the article but couldnt stay awake long enough.
That said i want to say that my ACE light showed up orange returning from Wales today.
It was along the long stretch of the A55.
When i switched off the ignition it also rebooted itself off.

As far as I can gather frm previous threads and some more problems of my own, the airbag light problem is usually down to the connectors. BIG YELLOW ones. There's one under the passenger seat and one (my problem) behind the glove comparment - visible when you open the compartment. May be one under drivers seat as well.

Fiddling and reconnecting WITH IGNITION OFF!!! seems to sort the problem out.:)

:mad:My A.C.E warning light comes on when the car is cold, once its warm if the ignition is turned off and on it clears and stays off till next day!
Is there a pressure switch on the system? and if so where is it?the Haynes manual is bobbins and my local 4x4 specialist is no help .

The best (imho) solution would be to take it to a garage and get the diagnostic system plugged-in. Could be a number of things. A similar thing happened to me and it was the upper accelerometer out of tolerance. About £40 for a new one. But without a diagnostic it would have been a sod to fault-find and repair on my drive at home...
