Morning all,
Am looking at getting one of the Thule towbar bike carriers, they look fantastic and obviously would be nice and protected from the wind on a defender. Only question is that they hinge away from the car so you can open the boot, just curious if anyone has fitted one of these to a defender, Not sure if mounted to the lowest tow ball height the back door will open when rack is hinged away.

If not I'll just have to go to halfords or something and see if I can try before I buy

nothin wrong with doing it like this...

Been thinkin of making one that'll go on the dixon bate adjustable tow thingy in the same way the normal tow hitch thing does. Aven't got round to it yet though.

Would quite like the thule rideon 9403 for the fact that the bikes actually sit on it rather than hang off posts (have used one before and our bikes all have such different frames that its a right pain in the ass) but I don't think that would fit with a spare wheel on the back door, depends how low the rack will sit, and how far it actually offsets from the towbar.

fiamma do a nice spare wheel set-up one. My specialized FSR expert is a wierd frame and it was a PITA on the trial fit the other night. Along with the Girlfriends tiny 15" Myka Elite :(

got it cheap on Ebay though so cannot complain too much

hmmm, was hoping to get something that holds more than 2 bikes otherwise there isn't much benefit over the roof mount ones. If thule only did their one to mount a tyre or something it'd be awesome. I might pop down to halfords tonight and see if there is any chance the towball one will work.
