Ok, not something that most people will find useful but might be useful to some people.

It is very possible to fit a Mitsubishi rear wiper into a defender. It goes pretty much straight into with a few minor fixes.

The motor fits into the Landrover bracket but you need to rotate it slightly in order that the spindle goes as far as possible through the existing hole.

The wiring colours are as follows:

ground the case to ground

lime & yellow of mitsubishi >> red/green on landrover
Black with white fleck >> GROUND
Green/red >> brown/light green
Blue with silver fleck >> green

Once it's wired you need to get a front wiper spindle adapter and attack the mitsubishi's spindle with a dremel making it narrower. Now slide the spindle on and tighten it up.

The wiper motor will work exactly the same as the Landrover one with the same swipe and speed.

Am very interested. Ive got a plin door at the mo with no wiper and was looking at what would fit from the breakers. I dont thinke i have the wiring either so it will be a seperate swith on the dash.

OK in that case.......

Take ignition live to a defender rear wash wipe switch and connect this to the connector that has a black wire going to the central switch (shown as a green wire in my photo)

The green & brown goes to the connection opposite whilst the green and red goes to the other connection.

The rear wash connects to the central green switch (no wire showing in this photo)

As clear as the mud on my rear window;) Cheers. What made you use the Mitsu motor? Had it lying around?

It is quite clear really..... Basically the power comes in from ignition live to the defender rear wiper switch into the switch where it has a green wire.....

Then connect the other two wires right to the rear of the car to the motor as per the beginning of the thread together with another ignition live and a ground.

Yes I had two mitsubishi motors lying around and they have the same angle of swing as a defender so were ideal.
