Defender with Disco 200tdi - which Temp sender

Hi folks, I've just got myself a bit of a hybrid landy which seems to have a faulty temperature sender.

My problem is this, the vehicle was originally a 90 4C DT and has had a discovery 200TDi conversion carried out. Now I'm not sure if the original Disco 200TDi temp sender will give the correct reading on the gauge in the 90.

Can anyone please shed some light on this for me please.

it wont, it will read high

the sensor must match the guage so fit one out of a 200Tdi depender

Do a search, it's on here somewhere. I used a TD one and cut a new thread but you can get the right one

i had a td and swapped to a genuine defender 200 tdi..we kept the original sender as we didnt know you had to change it..it currently reads just over half on the guage

blimey! I've answered this fred at least 6 times in the last 12 months! It might be a contender for the "which tyres on my disco" award!

The thread is M16 x 1.0 for a disco, 5/8 UNF for TD.
