Perched on the naughty step
As of next month my 350 will be for sale, I have a 400 crank with matched balancer which will turn your 350 into a 377 without an overbore or a 383 with a 30 thou overbore.

It has a Holley double pumper carb on it 650cfm on an edelbrock performer low profile inline manifold. Engine is a 1986-1992 engine according to block casting number and is the high torque version

Only selling after the laning trip to fund a big block 454

I want back what I paid but will sell the engine as a 350 if wanted and I'll keep the 400 crank. It can come with a new flywheel on it it too and tubular performance headers.

383 package £790 complete with flywheel
350 without flywheel £650
350 with flywheel £700

I can palletise the engine if wanted as well as show it running it will be up for sale next month not this month as I need to run it for the laning trip

I'm going with a stroked 454 so I think that should bring me up to 496 or I may just buy a 502 if one comes up cheap enough with a 4 bolt main. Nice thing about a BBC is they can come as a standard 7.8:1 meaning I can run a good bit of boost

Is the low comp the reason why they are such low stock output but great potential for tuning?

What's the best bet for NA, higher comp pistons and cam?

Yeah more or less and as it's a square engine it can also rev quite high.

Way to get high comp is simply to just skim a head. Take the 120cc chamber down to 110 or take a 109 down to 97 and you're getting there, can go with flat top pistons and aim for a 10.5:1

If anyone wants to make me an offer this is what I'm after as separate parts (I'm now keeping the Holley carb and HEI dizzy)

Brand new starter from real steel for chevy engines with staggered bolt pattern £70
Edelbrock performer inlet manifold £75
Engine itself as a bare block with heads £520
Hooker long style block hugger headers £70
Flywheel, brand new 168 tooth from real steel £110
Stroker crank £70

Snigger, you can put down a deposit for it if you want and I'll cling wrap it and fill it to the brim of the rockers with new oil ;) ?

The 429 engine has sold (guys meant to collect on sunday) so I've got about enough to buy the big block!

You running an auto or manual ?

I'd offer to fit it if you were closer but griffman has the same engine in his 90 just to prove that it can be done, easiest way is to use an auto box if not you can do what I've done and mate an american gearbox set up.

If you use an american set up the LT230 can be used but personally I'd use an american transfer as its easier and cheaper

Engine only weighs in at 30kg more than your standard 3.5 so springs should cope (weighs about the same as a derv lump)

If you buy the 383 stroker set up that'll bring your potential torque output up to about a 420ft/lb peak and a constant 350 ish through most of the rev range. The engine is complete apart from dizzy and carb but I can lay my hands on a cheap dizzy for you if needed as I know someone who has a good stock of parts for these engines

You don't need a fitter, all this can be done on your drive!

Heres the adaptor plate anyway, it does say auto but the auto and manual bellhousings are the same pattern on rover v8's

You only need the big adaptor plate not the other bits so I'd see if they'll sell it separately as that'd be a lot cheaper then! If not take the engine and rover bellhousing to a local machine shop and they'll knock you up a plate out of 10mm for a couple of hundred if that! My local machine shop doesn't charge me much for most plate jobs like that

RANGE ROVER ZF AUTO - CHEV V8 PETROL ADAPTOR KIT

If not as said pick up the correct box for the engine for about £200 on ebay then its just a straight drop in. The chevy engine will sit in the same place as the rover as the external dimensions are the same
