Just bought myself a series IIA Ex-MOD 2.25 petrol it cost me £200, the engine was siezed so i have sourced another one from e-bay for £25.

Anyway here is some pics,

What can anyone tell me about it from the shots?

Any input good or bad is wanted. Oh and the chasis is not rotten.

Ha ha, first thing I was going to say was "turn it over & photograph it"! Sound chassis, 200 notes & an engine for 25? Feckin result chap. Pretty lil' bugger ain't she? Showin' up the useless heap behind her?

Nah, nice one. Keep us posted with pics & updates.

Best,
Marcus.

Well the Freelander V6 has blown it's head gasket (which one i don't know), it needs a new air-con condensor and the sun roof is jammed closed. So it's going in the garage under warrenty, i don't expect to see it for at least 2 months.

A quick engine swap and a few patches on the floor and bumper and hopefully it will not be too far from road legal.

And Slob i thought those comments were just for us Freelander owners!!!

What you talkin' abou' Whellis?

Are you into sheds then GRUNT?

It states MOD on the log book, it was made in 1963 but not civvy registered until 1971, the give aways are the rope cleats down the sides (which say soft top), the double front bumper is definate MOD, and the petrol tank under the drivers seat which you have to lift the seat base off and unscrew the lid to fill it.

But for some reason a previous owner has fitted speakers to the inside of the doors???????????WTF!!!!

Yep - definitely a 2a military bumper (so I guess what's attached to it is similar). The grille is from a series 3 and the wipers are not military types. Apart from that (and the colour  ) it's a nice example of a military Rover. You just need some sills for it ;)

(where's the Anorak smiley, eh?)

Does any one have a picture of an original series IIA military i could use as a base for my rebuild?

Some inside and outside shots would be nice.

Actually, if you put "land rover 2a" into a yahoo image search it brings up a lot of pics (321 results) it might be worth a wade through. Some are way pretty. A lot of Aussie stuff for some reason!

Depends how you define "original" I suppose :)

If you put a wire grille on yours, some sills and painted it green it would look pretty much like a SIIa military LR. Most of 'em were soft-tops though, and my guess is your hardtop was fitted after it was cast.
Marcus' photos are nice, but they show an Aussie model (I think) with different wheel-arches.
Go to www.emlra.org for lots of info about military LRs. There's a forum on there too, so you can pick some brains as well.

Yeah, it was Ozzie, just quite like it out of the shots I trawled through. I dunno, cut back your wheel arches? Thought it looked quite purposeful & lightweightesque? Do think your link's are better though Mr C..........'cept for the one to your site! ;)

Don't even start me on that one!!!!!!

I just need to find an engine crane going cheap, so i can get it running.
