No dates as yet, this month or next sounds oki with me, the sunny weather's gawn now so the muddier the better i guess

Give it a week for me to sort out the laning route and we're set with that, then it's a case of who wants to come and when

Couple of laning pics for your pleasure, working on a route and a few more. Never done this sort of thing so bear with me


A steep climb this one, looked abit tricky as the ground is very notchy





Looking down the lane:



A regular Lane i use with a great twisting section:









The muddy bit is before or after depending on which way ya go. It's worth doing the lane both ways as the climb up is dealt differently to the drop down, this lane is very steep in some areas, think calf muscle burning when walking it

Can highly recommend the South Hams area - some great tracks and lovely pubs.

My inlaws live in Newton Ferrers so often over that way.

Good down here in Cornwall too but quite far for a lot of people.

That's just silly and tbh. Many decent places have at least 2 routes with varying levels of difficulty. That way, they can cater for novices and expert enthusiasts/vehicles. Regardless, surely half the thrill is not knowing whether or not you're gonna make it?

The Freelander is certainly not a Defender and I acknowledge that, but it's far more capable than many think it is. For instance, I took my Freelander on a Land Rover experience course and the itinerary sheet specifically stated "NOT SUITABLE FOR FREELANDERS!" (There were 11 vehicles in total, everyone else was in a Disco, Defender or a Rangie) My Freelander coped with it without any problem at all. If anything, it was hardly a challenge for the Freelander. Every 30 minutes or so, the lead instructor would make a big fuss on the radio to say how well I was doing, when in reality, all I did was point it in the direction I wanted to go!

I won't be coming but I do hope that you guys have a great time.

Went out today with Paul on a couple of the routes and some I dished up, it was great, really enjoyed myself:d
Pauls a great guy and look forward to next meet

They are quite challenging, but Rich I think you should come anyway, bring the gaylander and see how well she does
I will be more than happy to help out if you need it (hope that doesn't come across wrong)
I dont know what the landers ground clearance is or what tyres you have, but I imagine ground clearance will be an issue.

Start of one section between Totnes and Ipplepen.

Looking down after I passed that dodgy section, the camera doesn't quite capture the gradient.
Oh well take my word its a little knarley and in the day you can see the river Dart.
I should explain, I done this earlier in the day, met up with Paul went round some nice routes with Paul, with some stunning views of the Teingn estuary and Teighnmouth.
Brilliant cant wait, gonna go out looking again tomorrow

I understand what you're saying with whether it's going to make it or not, but what happens when you're halfway around and you can't make it? The course is set within woodland, so there is no way out without finishing the course, a decent set of off road tyres and a capable vehicle are the basics, the guy has been running the place or 8 years and built it up himself, so if he knows a freelander isn't going to make it, then he pretty much knows what he is saying.

Had a good time with Jeff today, nice bloke folks, and a great landy to match We did some lanes that i'd found including one which looked promising but turned into something resembling a single footpath at one point, it was a serious squeeze! We did a few more and then headed off over to Ipplepen to check out the ones that he'd found earlier. All these were great lanes, longer than the previous and the last one was a steep narrow bumpy affair which i'd love to try backwards

We were out for about 4 hours which is half a day for sure and we didn't even stretch ourselves that much ( although one lane did elude me, we will get that fooker with some extra gear! )

Another few more runs and we'll have a good route set up i reackon for others to enjoy. A few pics:

This one is when i was attempting a lane which had a large step into it ( about halfway up the lane ). I had looked at it previously but wanted to try it with someone, but i was struggling to gain any grip due to the nature of the ground, still we'll try and get it done and maybe include it. The picture doesn't show the angle well, the Landy has got to be at about a 30-35 degree angle.

The site has something for everyone including winch only sections.

is that the trago mills outlet last time down that way saw the paint ball as you drive in did not realise pay & play as well.Stayed a at a cracking site just outside newton abbot at the back of a pub.the only bad point was the 2 am alarm clock shotguns in the field behind.

Yes, the off road site weaves around the outside of the paintball area.

Its actually a lot bigger than it looks from the carpark/road with some fantastic sections and plenty of mud and water.

It was good, that trago circuit is pretty demanding, and we didn't see the half of it!
Plenty of mud, deep water ect.
The amount of times I have driven past there:doh:
Thoroughly good fun

What a twit i am at times, due to how the camera was gaffer taped onto the sun visor i didn't notice that the shutter hadn't fully opened....resulted in black lines across the video :doh::doh:
