hi lads , on taking out my becm under the front drivers side the carpet is very damp with sticky green liquid ????????:(:( I am presuming this is engine coolant ?????? :confused::confused::confused:
from hevac / and ventilation units , ??????? poss o rings gone then !!!!!! whats best way to dry carpet out without removing ?????????? have checked most of wiring loom out and dried out cable channel . also what is required to replace the o rings etc ,,does the dash have to come out to get to repair things ?????????:eek::eek::eek: any help would be most welcome ,,I am sure theres plenty of how to comments but cant find them:confused::confused: .. ,,,also all the interior heating and ventilation appears to be working i.e. plenty of heat when on hi and cool on low and all dash vents working ok and blowers ok ?????????? cheers lads mozz :crazy_driver::crazy_driver::crazy_driver:
 
Almost certainly O rings. Can be done without removing dash, took me a morning, would be quicker next time. I made the carpet wetter with biological washing powder in hot water then dried it with a dehumidifier and the aircon.

It's always easier second time, what takes most time is drain/refill.
First time round i followed a mixture of the short cuts but never cut any pipes.
Second time I had some very long screwdrivers handy and did it from the radio hole (radio out) minor problem you cannot see but plenty of photos available even managed to take some with auto focus small camera so I could see how I was doing.

Best tip is to loosen/disconnect both pipes in engine bay and have a helper there, makes it fairly easy and quick.

Special tools needed: Very long screwdriver.

No need to drain and refill. Clamp the pipes and disconnect them, then put a rag around an airline and blow gently into the pipe that goes to the top of the matrix to empty it. Do O'rings, reconnect pipes, unclamp run engine and top up.

Oh dear now you're saying that, I didn't drain alot only what came out of pipes when disconnected.
And one must be so careful refilling the sensitive beast, not that it's difficult but must be done right or else:boom:

I'm more than happy to post you up the very long PZ2 screwdriver you'll need...unless the original screw has been replaced in the past.

I bought it to do this job, no need for you to buy one too.

I bought a screwdriver from BQ of all places for 6 quid but on rebuild used a stainless allen bolt ( supplied very kindly by Irishrover) also if the ducts are cut in the right place it allows the blend motors to be replaced in about an hour and a half :D
