If you can find a replacement axle you'll be fine. Parts for Salisbury axles are available. And there are great tutorials on YouTube. Britannia restorations, Mike, Covers a full rebuild.

I disagree. You are having fun and learning great new things. A Toyota Yaris hybrid isn't nearly as much fun.

There's another coal mine fire in Pennsylvania that's been burning since 1962. It's reckoned that it could burn for 250 years before all the fuel is exhausted.

Hi Daniel, been a victim of this dreaded earth strap before, fortunately, had a mechanic take care of it whilst changing the alternator. A few more earth locations, just in case you are short of something to do  Tricky

Oh no, so the extra diff is useless :/ And the Salisbury are hard to work on, so i better forget removing the welded parts, right? Argh. Driving with a welded diff was not my intention :(

Yes, i have all the brackets fitted. I can't see any movement in the brakets themselves, the whole lot moves brackets, steering box and bulkhead. I'll have a good check of all fixings in the morning and report back. Thanks

Rubbish is a real problem, a bottle in the sun is a real danger amongst dry grass etc. Lightning can also set fires as you say, especially 'dry lightning', doesn't sound like you have that problem today though :)

Oh, no, that's a Salisbury. Your replacement diff won't do. Salisbury diffs are tough, and tricky to work on. 24 splines on both ends of the shaft.

Wrong that’s a Salisbury axle which is correct for the 109

It captures an era now gone. Great seeing all those street scenes and its very funny of course. I've got the DVD box set and its an old one so not subject to 'cancel culture'. I once made my own box set by copying them all off TV (back in the...

I'd works that you could damage the stub axle, which is what it's catching on. You can remove the stub axle and avoid damaging it.

If you remove the cross pin and then it may be possible to smack out the gears [ could be torched out ] Bevel/planetary gear set available.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/256870719051 Cheap enough if it's correct for your vehicle. Sure it will be easy enough to change and a couple of hundred quid cheaper than one hours labour at a Land Rover dealer.

It can be the metal at the inner end of the shaft has turned [burred] over as a result of it being driven while still having the broken shaft in place. It may hammer out but removing the hub and the stub axle may well be the best answer.

Yes, but it is fiddly. You will find that the blades on the fan are not all evenly spaced and there is one gap which is quite a bit wider than the others, this is useful when trying to thread it through.

Can I change the serpentine belt on a 300tdi discovery without removing the viscous fan.

Hi folks, replaced the pipe today and the map/maf errors and such are gone. However the DPF FULL errors will NOT shift. It went away for a bit a few days ago, and now just won't go at all... either the dpf is actually full and is pure...
