Probably using 1 of the "quality" battery testers they sell inhouse. Using "highly trained" operatives.

If you pull the EPB when moving and not in bedding in mode the car will apply the service brakes with the abs pump to stop the car as well.

If the aux belt breaks or comes off on an FL2 does the very clever electrikery stop the engine running ??

the window locks on mine are contained in the center, just below the window. they use that wheel type lock and mechanism that is screwed into the actual door frame (similar to military ones), so they're completely out of the way. not around to...

Thankyou dag019 for the response, very valuable points to consider, great.

Have you checked the oil level? Experience tells me some mechanics have trouble reading a dip stick! (or don't bother, just bung in what they think is right and maybe make mistakes doing that!) Sounds like it could be a drive/fan/aux belt issue...

Did it start when the tyres went on?
  • dag019
The if yoi are getting rid of all of that then your only issue will be the window mechanism and if that gets in the way of the lock or how to cover it if you have no door card. Or be done with it and for the series style military doors. That’s...

Any recommended threads/guides? Found a dash removal guide on paulp38a.com, looks like a lot of fun 😑

ah i see. well im wanting to be rid of the door cards anyway and hopefully all of that mechanism for the interior locking and latch. so hopefully that's the only issue. thanks for your response

TBH, I think someone has been doing stuff with that prop as the plates under the Option 1 bolt heads - the ones each joining 2 bolts should be bare metal - they look to have been spray painted while the bolts are installed, so on the car. Your...

Yes, most have cleanable magnets inside and some have reusable strainers. No filters to replace as a rule. A used one is fine as long as it is intact and you replace the O rings if needed. Just check for cracks or damage and you should be good.

So did Halfords check the amount of charge or the capacity ? When I have used Halfords in the past, they did both.

It's less work just fiddly. We've done both of our 38's a few year ago😩
  • B
Is that more or less work than replacing both the cylinder head gaskets....because that took me a month
  • GrumpyGel
Yes, you remove the option 1 bolts. There is no need for a plate. People only remove the option 2 bolts when the IRD is badly broken and a plate is bolted on to cover the hole - the car will basically be converted to 2WD permanently. This...

I think the issue is with the door card lock Button and internal opening catch. The military ones a like the series style where the inside is a “mirror” or the outside with a curved handle from the lock to open and a small sliding catch to lock...

I'm going through this at the moment, random traction abs lamps but 0 faults... Beginning to think I've got corrosion on a plug somewhere as it just randomly comes and goes and under no particular circumstances 😵

Got a new battery in her now. Pumped the gas peddle a few times she started up but immediately stalled out with tons of white smoke from the exhaust. I’m thinking it’s either the fuel pump or the CPS.

Have you driven the car yet? Go for a lap around the block and see what happens. Might display Traction Failure when you turn the car off but on next start up it should be cleared.
  • aaronparke1
My local garage has an up to date snap on diagnostic tool and it has cleared all the faults in the memory. It shows "no faults" but the digital readout when turning on the ignition still says "traction failure" and my ABS and TC lights are on.

If you are very new to it all I would first of all think very carefully about what you want to do/carry in it. A 90 is the same external dimensions (length and width) as a golf. You can carry things, a dog, or people, but you can only choose one...
