They probably make more money doing immobiliser stuff than fuel regulators & pumps !! Fuel pressure codes are just a clue something is wrong. The diagnostic should also show the actual pressure values.
  • pwood999
No they are supposed to be illuminated like all the P38 switches.

Off the car should be 1/3 of the time on the car. Due to the 3:1 diff gearing. So 1.2m and 5Kg on the car at a minute is at end of life. I use as a rule of thumb.

Yes I thought it seemed a little tight. I did read somewhere that after sitting for a while, they need at least one full revolution to distribute the fluid before testing. This one has sat on the bench in my garage for at least 6 months. It...

Ironically they're the only one willing to email me to chat through rather than pay £11 a minute to call - thanks

I have to work out how much they'd be worth here vs home I guess (plus around $4k per car to ship to UK)
  • C
Both RHD - one is a UK car (the 110), the other is a bit more Kenyan (made up of a few bits)

If you can figure out a cheap way of calling, some of the brokers may be able to help providing you have a UK address to give them and give them the exact model of the vehicle and specific modifications. Some people seem to dislike them but I'd...

Well I was told by another mechanic and the previous owner that the likely cause was the immobiliser…. Then another mechanic, came and did a diagnostic and told me to deactivate the immobiliser, and if that doesn’t work then replace the...

I've never tried testing a VCU that way but it looks kinda tight to me. The scaffold weighs a kilo or two as well as the 6kg weight. In the past I've stuck screwdrivers through the UJ joints to turn a VCU but could never have applied the force...

Yes, that's what I thought. Actually I haven't checked the fuses. I was told the one for the cruise was also for various other things like the ABS, so I had assumed it was OK. But I'll check the fuses next.

I can't even remember being 31 it's that long ago....
  • C
    a few wouldn't quote online, hence checking - I think it's the list of add-ons - so need a conversation, I guess....
  • S
That definitely works in your favour! I'm 31, 9 years no claims and its only just getting to the point where insurance prices are coming right down
  • C
at least I'm old now ;-)
  • S
Yeah as above the 90 should be easier and cheaper to insure, assuming it's not overly modified (within reason for a 40+ year old vehicle)... My 1988 110 costs just under £300 on a classic policy :D Half the price of my Audi!

Beware mixing/matching different components, the basic engine design is essentially the same but some of the ancillaries are not. 3.5 distributors can have different part numbers for different model years, not just carb or efi variants. nb. not...

IMHO Your best bet will be to use an average UK address and get quotes, suspect the likes of Adrian Flux, Heritage etc would be good starters. The 84 wouldn't be too bad I dont think and is now 40 year heritage but I can see you paying for the...

Hi all, Kenya for the moment - I built my 90 soft top 4LV8 on here last decade - now thinking of returning to Yorkshire with my latest 110 overland truck if I can get it insured. Nice to e-meet you all.

Hi all, Thinking of returning to the UK after a decade in Africa - wondering whether to bring my (originally UK) 2012 Defender 110 back with me - the challenge is that it's not quite as it was when it left - ICARUS roof / 2 seats / Nimbus Oleo...

Do the hardest job.. A frame bushes & knuckle(replace the whole knuckle with carrier & new bolts) I used the proper bushes for this job as they are a pain to do if they go again. Make up your own brake pipes or buy the set for your car. Can of...

With the engine running you should get a green symbol like a Speedo on the right next to the air bag warning to indicate it's on, as for a relay I don't know but it is possible as the diesel P38 I had had a relay for it, guess you have checked...

That sounds like a huge nightmare, there is so many wires in this car 😂😂😂
  • H
Well that’s 6 weeks to get the other list of parts needed. & the other 1 stripped. You don’t want to be finding you need parts & have to wait during the build.
  • Crankington
    What does that mean? Nightmare?

Hi All. I've recently acquired a 2007 L322 3.6 TDV8. The cruise control hasn't worked since I've had it. When you press the on/off button on the steering wheel, nothing happens. I think you're supposed to get a green light on the right of the...
