Thanks for the responses. It’s in the body. We have looked and are unable to locate. It’s my son’s car and he is unable to drive at night so I’m willing to help him out with the cost. Attached is photo to confirm. Greg

Honestly I am loosing the will here. New video, but doesn't really do the noise justice, it's very loud in the cab. The noise is consistent and variable with increase/decrease of boost pressure. You can't here it when reving the engine with no...

Hi everyone! I have finished replacing the driver's door lock. I also replaced the plastic parts of the front doors, STC3063 and -64. Contrary to the instructions, I did not assemble the parts with a spring tensioner, but tightened the shorter...

If the HP regulator has gone faulty it will cause low pressure so may show as a sensor fault.
  • Crankington
Yes so the ECU code was : P1602… have messaged the mechanic regarding the fuel pressure code.
  • Crankington
i need to triple check with the mechanic, but he said that the fuel pressure sensor was throwing up a code (this was all in French and I’m still learning so didn’t get all the info)
  • Crankington
Thanks for this, yeah, so the fuel pressure sensor on the fuel rail was giving a code along with the immobiliser, so I think that’s my next step, get one ordered. I’ve tested the filter and all good.

On mine, i replaced the shafts and flanges together (rear), using sealable flanges, and, at the same time, removed the oil seal behind the stub axle, so as the gear oil can run the whole way up to the flange. Ill take it apart at some point in...

After fitting new VCU bearings & replacing the propshaft UJ's did a bench test on the VCU today. Didn't have correct length bar & weight available, so used what was in the garage. Distance from VCU shaft to weight is 80cm, and weight is 6kg...

Did the diags give the fuel pressures low/high? HP regulator is a know common issue, ask me how I know. EDIT: I don't remember seeing any fault codes.

Ah, sorry Julian. I was just saying some of the Defender 300Tdi's have flanged rear drive shafts, not that they will fit a salisbury diff. I've no experience of them, but from what I've read they are not interchangeable parts.

I agree fully about advertising but its still classed as serving the advert and some of the adverts are just insanely overt..... I mean why I used to keep getting "grow your penis, is your penis small" adverts. Incidentally Netflix is getting as...

If it's been on diagnostics, what's the fuel pressure rail sensor showing at higher speed ? Def worth doing the high pressure pump regulator seals - easy & cheap to do. Sounds like your friend needs to go to a garage that will do the...

Yeah, im on the pc at the moment, and zero ads, but on phones its harder. There are browsers and script combinations (like kiwi) that will strip everything off facebook, but its still madness that this forum is getting that bad.
  • julianf
Im confused by this - the 300disco had them, but that didnt have a salisbury. ...and, more to the point, im pretty certain (almost entirely certain) that the 300 disco and 300 defender salisbury half shafts are different lengths (which is why...

If its cranking over, there's only a couple of things it can be. It's briefly firing on cold start being sprayed it, means no fuel. Immobiliser has been bypassed and it's cranking so not likely ews at this point. This pretty much leaves fuel...

you dont need to have it running just cranking for a leak off test, there are plenty of utube videos on how todo it plus a leak off kit on fliebay is about £35
  • Firebobby1
Is it the one in the body or the bumper, can you put a photo on. There must be breakers in the US that have them. I have a pair of genuine LR, that are the body mounted ones. God knows how much it would cost to post though.

How do I do a leak off test if the car won’t run? By just cranking?
  • Al2O3

Mine is another vote for the chassis swap. Chances are the steel of the chassis rail behind the gearbox cross member flanges will be non existent, as well as all of the other holes you've already identified. As Hicap phill says, you're half way...

i would do a leak off test before doing the fuel sensor as a faulty injector stops it starting ( and if it was cranking it wasnt the immobiliser)

Yes so the diag found 2 things , 1 that the immobiliser wasn’t working properly, and 2 that the fuel pressure wasn’t right, he said that I should deal with the IMMOBILISER first and then move to the pressure sensor on the fuel rail, just checking...
