I've got the specialty tool for removing the pump. But! Before I commit, how does the tool hold the sprocket central after the pumps tapered shaft is removed? There seems to be space around the tool within the tensioner sleeve, so that can be...

Did you ever find the resolve to this. I'm currently the same. Not all time but some reason doing 2k slightly pressing pedal you get a chuffing and juddering from engine and what best describe is grey smoke. Just as you describe above image...

Did the starter come in a Blue box (Powerlite) or was it a Bosch or Denso ? Another clue would be the cost ... how much was it ?
  • P
Neither - replaced it with a brand new OEM part. I’m a buy-well-buy-once guy. Same with the starter. Not sure where the starter actually came from, as I sourced it through my local garage.

The short bellhousing can be fitted to the 2.5 N/A, 2.5 petrol and the 200 TDI engines, anywhere the 4 Cyl LT77 is standard so that an R380 gearbox can be fitted. All of the other bits are also for the R380 (or at least will fit between the...

    None of the doors open?

Everything is solid inside i believe, I can hear the linkages actuating on both sides and it worked before I left my friends house (where we fixed it). I think it’s some sort of mislock or superlock or something because all of the handles and the...

Maybe whatever the handle operates has come off? Mind you then you would be able to open from the inside I guess. It seems a little odd that both front door catches would fail at the same time.

That's quite common for the FPR to leak and bugger up the starter motor. Did you repair the FPR or replace it with a cheapy? Good you got warranty on the starter, where did you buy it from?

Looks like it’s had new shocks and turrets in the not too distant past.

The 2.5 petrol is a great engine when it runs well. Would it be worth sending it for a total rebuild with new gaskets throughout? The rebuild kit if I remember correctly doesn’t include everything but rather the floats, gaskets to separate the...

I Always make a note of where seals are sitting before removing old ones. As the originals would have been there the longest there may be some witness marks left to go by if LR did recess your ones.

Keep me right please people - recently bought an honest but very weary 'F' plate Ninety that deserves a of love, as an unfinished project it came with a ton of parts and I'm now doing a load of sleuthing to work out what the plan was with the...

After doing my heater core orings it brought to light just how brittle my old centre dash piece is - pretty much crumbled putting back together, so I’ve been watching a few walnut dash parts on eBay and a seller sent out an offer, so now I have a...

There is a special big piece of steel or cast itorn in the way to force the smoke and heat etc to circulate in the body of the burner to ensure maximum burn. I could fish it out of the way but it'd be a right pain.

Huh – that took a turn! So, after getting some useful intel from a friend who said the green flash from the relay WAS arching – usually indicating a fault at the end of the circuit (in this case the starter motor), I took the brand new starter...

Morning all! I’m having trouble with the locking actuators on my front doors - I replaced them myself yesterday after buying second hand replacements and all was fine - doors opened and closed no worries, and locked with the key fob. I broke the...
