So, morning everyone, genuine question, maybe a stupid one, but, over the weekend I had the sump off the gearbox, did the filter, o rings and re torqued all the T27s up. Mine has a dip stick tube, not a filler plug like some. I noticed that the dip stick does not go all the way to the bottom of said tube , I’d say about 3 inch or so from the bottom. So, my question, if you’re filling the gearbox from the bottom using the filler hole, put the required amount in, run it threw the gears, then top up until the drip then put bung back in, job done, is my dip stick to short?? I feel I cannot ever get a proper reading from it, I must be thick, it looks either over filled or under filled. I let it warm up, in N, transfer box off.. is it a dark art?? I filled it up from underneath then stuck the tube back on, nothing is showing at all on it. Even though I followed the book to the letter.
Any advice, I’d appreciate.. have a 4000 mile trip at end of the month , and I need this to be spot on.
