Hello everybody
I would greatly appreciate it if someone could provide a step by step guide on how to tune the twin Zenith CD175SE carburettors on a Rover 3.5 V8. The steps provided by the workshop manual require a special carburettor balancer (special tool code: 605330) which i do not have. However i do have a uni sync carb balancer.

Hi, i can't help with tuning, but i would think starting at the default settings would be a good start
As for balancing, you should be able to use any balancer tool. If it's running very badly, you can set the butterflies approximately using a feeler gauge. Once you've done that, connect your balancer to the vacuum on each carb and take it from there.

Use a standard balance on the carbs.

One way to test if it's "near enough" is to use a CLEAN!! screwdriver.

Poke it in the inlet and and lift the Damper, then drop it.

the engine should bog down and then return to idle.

If it cuts out = lean
If nowt much happens = rich.

do that on both.
