I got a refurb kit from zenith for mine A few years back and it comes with new butterfly (As well as jets etc) and when stripped and cleaned the housing it worked a treat. Not too pricey either I seem to remember. Can’t say anything about Entire replacement though

Thx for the message. Yeah I got a refurb kit, it was more a question of the slop where the bar rubs against the housing and wears over time. Do you drill it out and put a bush in?

Even if it is allowing a bit of extra air into the throat, I don't think it will be enough to make any difference, you could always have a look at the spark plug electrodes to see what colour they are. That's how I judge the fuel/air ration.

Mine stil has a bit of play - not as much as yours but I just left it. If you could find the right size Bush then guess there’s no harm fitting it but I’d be tempted to refurb and check the mixture works ok before bothering.

If you do attempt a bush job do not attempt to drill it, the drill will follow the worn hole and produce an oval hole. It will need setting up on a milling machine and boring with a slot drill (2 flute milling cutter). Make the bush on the lathe from aluminium/bronze or brass, all of these materials will outlast your time with the Land Rover.
