Well, me, the wife and 2 year-old nipper (who was asleep in the back) were driving down the road in our newly-acquired 300TDi ('94 model), when the car in front emergency braked without indicating, nothing in the road in front, no reason (that I could see) whatsoever!

Anyway, after an emergency stop myself, I pulled past her, hand on horn, to see her looking at a road map! Unbelievably, she drove off (I could see her in my rearview) with the map pastered all over the windscreen!

However, I digress. When I took my palm off the central horn button, the oval 'landrover' plate came off with my palm (It was a little sweaty ) and disappeared over the ignition cover. I got home and spent half an hour looking for it, to no avail, lower cover came off, fuse panel unlatched, still couldn't see it.

So, Does anyone know where I might be able to find a replacement, without resorting to Land Rover direct? I would hazard a guess that that route might be expensive.

breaker yard?? carpark accessories?

First off I'm trying the Disco's being broken on Ebay. Breakers yard would take time, and time is money. Not to mention the fuel.

Carpark accessories?

I think it will be stuck up around the steering coloum if its where I think it fell, I lost some stuff there once, and you need to move the wheel on the height adjuster and have a dig about. It will be there.

you could try phoning first, if the cost of the call worries you, try jamming a steel comb down the slots when the pips sound.

Steel comb. That would be a 'telephone kiosk accessory'?

Driving to work today, and the damn oval plate feel out onto my foot! All sorted then, leaves me time to shoehorn the other things that need doing to the car. FYI, here is a list (in no particular order); does it sound familiar?

1) T-cut, polish, touch-up.
2) Fix the rear screen washer back in place.
3) Check EGR situation - fitted or not?
4) Sediment bowl - clean out (once I've worked out where it is)
5) Bluetooth carkit fit by Halfrauds.
6) Fix that curly dash.
7) Service the car.

I am sure there are some more things to do, I have just forgotten them!

I'm a perfectionist. There, I said it! Do as you will, tell my wife, I don't care!
