You know that tiny spigot on the rad that leads to the expansion tank?

Thats supposed to be attached, yeah?

Spent the morning changing the track rod due to a knackered bj, and treated it to a new damper too. Job done.

Drove home, then to get current dog from dog haircut shop. Came back and saw a wet patch on the floor where I had parked. Under the bonnet again to see drips from the pipe to the expansion tank. Just the hose I thought, and wiggled it. It came off in my hand

One week to go till holidays, and nowhere to get a new rad from till midweek..... Jeez.....

Solder it back on!

If that's the case, why does it look like it is a copper pipe?
For plastic Araldite is good!

copper innards but plastic surround it looks like. Easier to get a rad than a soldering kit at 12.45 on a saturday

Learn to solder and theres your spare rad

Ive heard a few stories about the pattern rads with the plastic end tanks, so when I replaced my rad a few years ago I coughed up for the all metal one, been fine since and its seen some grief.

Yeah - I wanted all metal, but needs must - I have to be back on the road tomorrow! From the state of the fins, the broken one has seen some abuse too

Mines had some tlc from a hammer to get the icooler to fit!

So, four hours later, the holiday is back on! First hurdle was one of the captive nuts on the radiator cover making a break for freedom. No room for a spanner!

A top tip is to make sure you have a big enough spanner for the oil cooler pipes..... trusty adjustable came out! The top pipe is really close to the spigot that broke in the first place. Careful now....

Only lost a few drops of oil thanks to string prepared to tie the pipes up, and caps from the new rad ready to put on the old.
