My dipstick has come adrift from the engine.

That is to say the bolt or rivet that holds the dipstick sleeve clip on the the engine block has fallen off, or snapped, or vibrated out, and so my dipstick is loose and flopping about.

It's a V8 4.6. Can someone with one have a look at theirs and tell me if it's a rivet, or a bolt that holds it on please.

Anyone have any idea what size bolt it might take? I've tried a few metric ones I have (various sizes) and none fit properly.

Many thanks,

Al.

PS Can you see on the parts list if they are the same size as the screws holding the HT lead clips on?

I might borrow one from there until I can source a replacement....

In fact, have you got the part number? I wonder what LR can charge for a screw...

58 pence from Rimmers, part number AB610031L.

So one is an M8x12 and the one next to it doing the same job is a 10x3/8"?

Another logic masterclass from Land Rover.

Cheers for the part number Wammers, I'll pop to my local dealer....
